Camp Recipes & Menus
Welcome to EVERYTHING you need to coordinate breakfast, lunch and dinner for up to 40 people for one full day camping. These menus feature mostly make in advance recipes which can be assigned out, made and refrigerated or frozen and then cooked or reheated over a campfire, grill or La Caja China.
While it’s important when cooking for a crowd to use easy, make-ahead recipes whenever possible, it’s especially true for camp meals. A picnic table is not the optimum place for meal prep and a campfire is not always the optimum cooking method. Add in the lack of a proper refrigerator and freezer and your options seemingly become more limited. But with the right recipes you can use the environment and campfire to your advantage and serve the same great meals everyone’s expecting from you. In fact, these recipes provide an over-the-top experience that’s crazy easy and no one needs to know but you!
You might be wondering if an over-the-top-experience is really necessary for camping meals. You bet it is. One look at the camper’s faces when they see your meal will quickly prove it.
The following recipes are proven, fantastic recipes in batch quantities of up to 40 – 45. Not only are they great for your group camping activity – many are also a PERFECT MAKE AHEAD time-saving option for YOUR FAMILY MEALS. I just made and served these recipes for a Young Men’s Camping Super Activity. Each of the recipes is fantastic. They are designed to be very easy to prepare and serve – and best of all, they’ll be lining up for seconds (and thirds)! You can use the whole menu, or pick an choose whichever items you want.
Most recipes can be assigned out to volunteers to make in advance, these are marked with a * below. And keep this in mind – EVERYTHING tastes better in a camping setting. Don’t these roast chickens look wonderful?
Be prepared for a LOT of happy campers.

Super Activity Camping Menu
Ok, now that I’ve gotten that out of my system ….
Don’t get me wrong. Camping is just fine. Just so long as I’M not the one doing the camping.
But camping IS ok if I’m feeding teens. I love feeding teens. It’s a real treat to create an over-the-top experience for them that they will remember for years. It’s even better if you can do it fairly easily, with mostly make in advance items. And that’s how we roll here at Aloha Dreams!
This menu can be made in advance in proper kitchen facilities (read double ovens, extensive counter space, and hot and cold running water if you please) and then re-heated over a campfire or with a La Caja China (you really gotta get one!)
Since the boys spent the days out in the heat wake boarding, trap shooting and working up an appetite biking, I also included 3 wonderful, super easy freezer pies. Just pick up some dry ice and put the ice and the pies in a cooler and you’re good to go.
Here’s everything you need. Check back often, I’ll be adding the recipes shortly.
It's easy! Just follow these 3 simple steps:
1. Send your volunteer a link to this page.
2. Tell them which item to make,
3. And how many batches.
That's it.
By the way, most of recipes below have family-sized recipe versions as well
- or better yet, make a big batch and freeze!
