Hawi (pron. “Ha-vee”), is old Hawaii at its best. Here time has stood still for a brief pause. If you would like to feel the spirit of aloha in its most pure form, we invite you to attend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hawi. All visitors are welcome with open arms. The members of the congregation are some of the warmest, most welcoming folks on earth.

The Sacrament service begins each Sunday at 9:00 am and runs to 10:10 am. It starts and ends with a hymn and prayer, and includes a passed sacrament (which you are welcome to take or not) and several inspirational, spiritual, and uplifting talks. Be sure and raise your hand when asked who will not be here next Sunday. By the end of the service, the spirit of aloha is literally tangible and rolls off the congregation in waves. If you manage to leave dry eyed, I will be very surprised. Hawi is a 20-minute drive from the Ranch. Ladies attending church will be wearing mid-length or longer skirts or dresses and the men will be in dress shirts and ties with slacks, lava lavas or suits. You will be welcome in whatever modest clothes you are wearing.

Directions: Take Highway 270 north to Hawi. Once in Hawi, just past Bamboo restaurant , turn right (south) on Hawi Road (Highway 250). Take the next right. (The driveway immediately prior to Banana Ranch Road). You’ll notice the sign for the Church of Jesus Christ on your right as you turn and you can see the steeple just ahead on the right. Follow the driveway to the Church parking lot.

If it’s Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, you’re in luck. And you gotta try this! He sets up on Thursdays at the Hawi Welcome Center parking lot in Waimea. If you’re downwind, they’re very easy to find!
